SMTP Outoing Mail Server Address List
Some customers get confused when asked to provide their SMTP outgoing server address when configuring GroupMail for delivery. To ease this confusion, I put a spreadsheet together with the incoming and outgoing server addresses most often used for sending email. If yours isn’t listed, let us know and we’ll help.

I hope that it helps anyone who looks sideways when asked to provide this information.

Is anyone else getting “relaying not allowed” errors when sending with Groupmail now?
I am using my own mail server, or course. Even tried authentication, but still get the error.
I am concerned that GM may have been fingered again.
Hi Stu,
Thanks for your comment.
When your Mail Server returns the message “Relay not Allowed” to you, this means that your Mail Server does not know who you are and will not forward your message. This is a great security feature on Mail Servers and stops anonymous people from around the world sending Email through your server.
If you are using any Email client such as GroupMail, Outlook, Eudora or any Email client and you receive this message they you need to check your “Authentication Settings”.
In GroupMail, go to your Account Manager and click on the ‘Delivery Options’ Tab. You will see a check box that says “Requires Authentication”. Tick this box and click the “Setup” button next to it. Now tick the box to use “SMTP Authentication (Outbound)” and enter in what ever authentication settings your Mail Server requires.
For those people who don’t run their own Mail Server and are unsure of what authentication settings they should be using then you will need to contact your Mail Provider or ISP for these settings.
Thanks, but its not that. I send and receive all day to the same mail server using Outlook w/o authenticating. Also, I was sending fine with GM until last week.
However, I believe if auth was required, the Subscriber module would be disabled, since currently there is no way to authenticate email accounts in Subscriber.
There is a problem with GMMailer.exe staying memory resident on my XP Pro, and it is interfering with sending. I have a msg in to support on this. I have also had problems with a) thousands (like 11,000) of log files building up within a few weeks of use. b) Sent Log files had to be deleted to get the software sort of working again this week. c) and again the memory persistent issue which seems to be causing errors now.
Is anyone else having these problems??
Hi Stu,
If you contact GroupMail Support they should be able to help you further: “support at infacta dot com”.
Just to confirm, Subscriber uses authentication. This is the POP3 account you setup initially in GroupMail Subscriber. You first enter in your POP3 server, then a User Name and Password which is what ever authentication your mail server requires. Usually your Email address and password.
As you run your own mail server you may not have it setup as standard so will need to check the documentation that came with it regarding connecting and authenticating.
If you were sending fine up untill last week then I would recommend checking to see if you have recently been black listed. You can use this site to check agains 150 of the more popular senders black lists: http://www.mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx
Your ISP may have updated their system and now impose sending limits over port 25 so you can check with them also.
HOW AND WHAT IS SMTP, POP IMPACK SERVER ADDRESS CONFIGER
SMTP means “Simple Mail Transfer Protocol”. It is a set of rules that mail clients and servers follow to send Email messages. POP means “Post Office Protocol” and is the set of rules that mail clients and servers use for receiving Email messages.
If you do not know what you mail server configuration should be then you will need to ask the person who looks after you Email server.
Is there any free smtp outgoing server with free user name and password
I am having trouble sending out my emails using the Group 5 program.
Verizon my ISP closed port 25 and is now using port 587 for SMTP.
I changed to this port on my GroupMail settings still a no go.
Do I need to have my server (which is not my ISP since I would be blacklisted) open port 587 also? this is the only thing I can think of.
I cant figure this baby out.
I can send the emails at home since I have Time-Warner. Butcannot at my office.
Anti-Virus, etc is not the issue since again it worked at home.
Please help!
Hi David, we’ve just sent you a reply by email.
I have Comcast and I am having the same problem with the forced switch from Port 25 to Port 587. My emails are not being sent. Your help would be sincerely appreciated.
Don
Hi Don,
To change the SMTP Port in GroupMail. Simply go to the Tools Menu, Account Manager, Select your account and press Modify. Then under the Advanced Button, SMTP Port you need to remove 25, then add 587.
To save the changes you need to press Ok and Ok again. Then if they go back it should be set to the new Port Number 587.
If you have any problems, give us a shout in support
Hi Don. I just tried to reply to you via email but the message was rejected by the Comcast server giving the following error:
Wed 2010-01-20 04:51:53: <– 550 5.1.1 Not our Customer
You might check the address that you used with Comcast. Perhaps it was just a typo.
