New GroupMail Release for Windows 7

GroupMail support for Windows 7
Well tomorrow is the official launch date forĀ Microsoft Windows 7 and from playing around with beta versions since April and more recent releases it appears to be a much less troublesome animal that its infamous predecessor that shall remain nameless (don’t mention the war).
We have a new release of GroupMail (version 5.2.0.80) that supports Windows 7, for people using GroupMail Personal/Business Editions or Marketing Pack the new version is available for download from the customer system.
The GroupMail :: Free Edition is available for download here.
Any problems you come across using it with Windows 7 or otherwise, as always let us know.
Aside from the new OS support not an awful lot to shout about in the new version, a few bug fixes including an update that resolves a number of problems when deleting recipients / processing opt-outs when your mailing list is stored in an external database (e.g. SQL Server/MySQL etc).
So unless your upgrading to Windows 7, not too many reasons to upgrade your version of GroupMail. We’re aiming to have a more substantial release out in the next few weeks with a number of exciting additions/improvements – I’ll post more details on these separately.

Please upgrade or replace the text editor! With problems in saving files, bolding text, creating links, revising templates, duplicate file names and more, it is frustrating and consumes too much valuable time. Thanks, bob
Hi Bob, we are aiming to make some significant changes/improvements in the message editor over the next couple of releases, mainly surrounding GroupMetrics integration, templates and image handling, I am also aware of a couple of bugs with inserting links in certain circumstances which we should also have sorted shortly.
For the other problems you mention, could you provide more specific details and we will investigate the causes and fix where needed. Please feel free to email me directly golden (at] infacta dot com or reply in the comments, whichever suits you best
Cheers
Hi Dave
when will the new Groupmail Release be available? Will the new smtp engine support gray-listening?
Best Regards
Frank
Hi Frank,
For what we’re aiming to get done for the next release, it’s looking like optimistically last week in Nov but this could stretch out to not being released til mid Jan.
As regards the gray-listing, I assume your talking about sending in Direct mode, and the receiving server is rejecting the message again upon retry ? Do you know or do the send logs give an indication of why the retry is rejected ? If you have specifics we will certainly add this support to the send engine.
Please feel free to email me direct to golden (at] infacta [dot) com with any specific details such at the send log of the retry if you think it would help.
Cheers

Can you confirm to me I don’t have to dowload the new release if I am not a Windows 7 Customer?
Thanks a lot
Anna
Hi Anna, there is no real need to download the latest release if you’re not moving to Windows 7. (Although there are a few bug fixes included)
We’re aiming to have a more substantial release out shortly with a number of new additions/improvements – it will definitely be worth installing that release!
We’ll be in touch as normal when this is ready!
Have a great weekend,
Rob
I just received a new PC, first ever : ) , for Christmas.
Situation is I am transferring programs and files from my “old” desktop to my new PC… my desktop uses Windows Professional 2000 and my new PC has windows 7 installed.
Should I download the new GroupMail version to my “old” system before transferring the program to the new PC or should I transfer the program first and then download the new version, over the old one, on my new PC. Also, I need to be sure that the information in my 3.4 version transfers to the new version.
I am currently using the 4.0 version and it works great for what I need but from what I read it won’t work with Windows 7 on my new PC right? Please let me know! Is there a cost for upgrading a registered copy of the 3.4 to the new version?
ooppss disregard the 4.0 reference in my previous post… I am using the 3.4 version!
I have installed the latest version of groupmail on windows 7 and It won’t launch, what can I do I’m stunmped
