How to Transfer Your GroupMail Data from Windows XP to Windows 7

Windows 7 is taking the world by storm. As a result, many GroupMail users need to transfer their settings to the new OS.

The paths to the GroupMail Data Folders have changed on Windows 7.  Therefore to Move GroupMail from a Windows XP Machine to a Windows 7 Machine, please do the following:

  1. Install the latest Version of GroupMail on your Windows 7 PC, you can download and install this from the Customer Resources Area
  2. Ensure GroupMail is closed on both machines.
  3. On the Windows 7 PC. Go to C:\Users\User Account\AppData\Local and delete the Infacta Folder from here.
  4. On your Windows XP PC go to C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Infacta copy the Infacta Folder and paste it to the Windows 7 PC to the folder C:\Users\User Account\AppData\Local
  5. Now if you open GroupMail on the Windows 7 PC all your data should be available.

As always, if you need any help don’t hesitate to contact us.

I did the process above, but when I try open the old message, show me this message: Edit sent message error: Patch not found – 76 :: GroupMailMain.

I’ve moved GroupMail folders before successfully, but this time everythink is OK except that the link to actual sent messages is broken. On the message screen the ‘To’ column says ‘message not found’ and the ‘subject’ column is blank for all messages. If i click on ‘edit copy of message’ I get “Path not found – 76″. The messages are all there in the folder and I’ve not changed the folder structure.
How can I re-estblish the links?

    Hi Mike.

The sent messages will still have the old folder path referenced so you just need to update them by using the GMToolBox tool.

To do this, navigate to C:\Program Files\GroupMail 5\ and run the program called GMToolbox.exe. Click on the Messages tab and then click on the button for “Fix Paths”. That will update the message reference path to the correct path on your new machine.
