We’ve been working really hard over the past several months to improve the design and functionality of our GroupMail product page.

If you have any links to GroupMail articles, pages, or products; you might double check them. We tried hard to minimize disruption with the redesign, but sometimes, link structures and paths can change as a result of these things.

One of the things that sets GroupMail apart from other email marketing software and services is that our development process is driven largely by our customers. It always has been.

We listen closely to the needs and desires of the people who use and rely on our software to get stuff done. That is one of the reasons why GroupMail is considered by many to be more intuitive and easier to use than other products on the market. It evolves with our customers needs and desires and has been for the last 15 years.

Do you have a request for a feature or an idea that would make life easier for you and other GroupMail users?

How to Submit a GroupMail Software Feature Request

Submit a feature request to our developers!

Repeat

GroupMail software feature request

Remember, there is no such thing as a bad question (or feature request) except for the one that isn’t asked. If something would make your experience with GroupMail better, then there is a very good chance that it would make the experience of others better too.

Don’t be scared to think outside of the [in]box!

…and big thanks to all of our customers who have already contributed to the development of GroupMail over the years! It rocks because of you!

A new version of GroupMail has been released on the heels of v. 5.2.0.088. This new release (v. 5.2.0.089) addresses the issue that some customers were experiencing with the Subscriber Add-on and , specifically, addresses the “trial version expired” error message that was appearing for some customers when they were processing POP3 accounts for unsubscribe requests and bounces.

If you are a GroupMail customer, you can download the latest version.

If you do not have a full GroupMail license, you can download our GroupMail Free Edition (v. 5.2.0.088). The new version is not available for Free GroupMail customers because the GroupMail Free Edition does not include the Subscriber Add-on, which allows users to manage email subscriptions, unsubscribe requests and bounces.

One of the beneficial features of the GroupMail Business Edition is the ability to schedule email for delivery at any time in the future. This way, you can prepare your email marketing campaigns to send on days when you will not be at the office to send them yourself. It’s like having your own personal assistant in the office while you’re away on holidays or busy with other tasks.

With GroupMail’s Scheduler Add-on, you can schedule email messages to send at a later time or date. You can also schedule GroupMail’s Subscriber Add-on to check for new email subscriptions, unsubscribe requests and bounces automatically every day, week, month, etc.

For instructions on using GroupMail’s Scheduler Add-on, read How to Use the Scheduler

Now, if there was only a way that I could schedule my phone to make all of the phone calls that I have to make this afternoon, then I’d be on easy street.

Did you know that you can upgrade from one GroupMail edition to another at any time and just pay the difference in price?

You may upgrade from within the application itself or by logging in to the GroupMail Customer Resources Area and clicking the “Upgrade to Business” from the navigation panel on the right-hand side of the screen.

If your GroupMail software does not automatically upgrade from the Personal to the Business edition during installation, open GroupMail and click on Help/Enter Product Key and enter your new Business Edition Product Key details (GM2-…) which were emailed to you after purchasing your upgrade.

The main differences between the GroupMail Personal and Business Editions are:

The Business Edition allows you to open up to 256 simultaneous delivery connections (you can open 3 simultaneous connections with the Personal Edition.) The more connections that you have open, the faster GroupMail will process messages to your mail server.

You can schedule messages for delivery at any point in the future with the Business Edition and also schedule GroupMail’s Subscriber Add-0n to automatically check your mail server for new email subscriptions, unsubscribe requests and bounces.

You can install a GroupMail toolbar in your MS Outlook application and link GroupMail to your Outlook Address book.

You can link GroupMail to external OLE/ODBC databases (i.e. MySQL, Access, Excel, etc.) rather than importing recipients into GroupMail’s internal database.

You can send personalized email-to-SMS text messages with the Business Edition.

There are 32 additional email templates in the Business Edition.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.

You can also upgrade from either the Personal or Business Editions to the GroupMail Marketing Pack and just pay the difference in price. If you would like to do this, contact us and we will send you an upgrade link.

Since then, GroupMail has evolved over the years in line with our customers’ requirements and industry changes to be one of the leading email marketing software programs on the market. Today, almost 15 years later, GroupMail is used in over 160 countries around the world and available to install in four languages (English, Spanish, French and German.) If you are interested, you can read more about the history of GroupMail.

Each year, GroupMail adds new features, email templates, Add-ons (i.e. email-to-SMS, Outlook toolbar, Subscriber list management tool, Tweaker, etc.) enhanced functionality, improvements in user interface and compatibility improvements when new operating systems or email standards change.

Because our customers’ needs and the email marketing industry as a whole change so often, our development team is kept rather busy day to day. Much of our development work is driven by our customers. We look forward to feedback and really listen when our customers tell us when something could or should be added to a future GroupMail release (So never hesitate to send us ideas! Your suggestion(s) could very well be included in a new version release!)

You can keep up with GroupMail release notes as new versions are published.

Due to the nature and need for regular software development in today’s ever-changing technological landscape, we offer GroupMail customers the ability to download updates and new releases (even major releases) from our website by providing the option of renewing Upgrade Protection on their license each year. When you first order GroupMail, your purchase includes a full year of Upgrade Protection, which gives you access to download updates and new releases to the software when they are published during the first 12 months. You can renew the Upgrade Protection on your license each year if you would like to continue to have access to download updates and new software releases from our website after the first year.

Upgrade Protection is optional, and your software will continue to work whether you renew it each year or not.

Do you have any ideas for our development team?

All email lists and databases are not created equal. Sometimes, email lists and databases contain content and formatting that doesn’t support your email marketing or personalization efforts. Your email lists might contain name fields which combine first and last names, capitalization errors (i.e. ALL CAPS or incorrect location of capital letters) or date, time, number or currency formatting that doesn’t support your email campaigns.

GroupMail’s Tweaker Add-on was developed to help you with email list management, specifically with regard to name splitting, capitalization, rule-based updates and formatting. If your list contains name fields which combine first and last names, for example, Tweaker will make it easy to split first and last names into distinct fields without having to manually edit each record.

You can find instructions for using Tweaker in our tutorial article, How to Use the Tweaker Add-on.

We’ve released a minor version release today (v 5.2.0.086) to address the following issues related to the message editor:

Merge fields sometimes inserted incorrectly into Subject line instead of body – fixed

List Templates checkbox value not being saved/restored correctly – fixed

No save changes prompt when closing editor after editing a previously saved message – fixed

Delete key and keyboard shortcuts for Copy and Paste didn’t function in Windows Vista/7 – fixed

Deleting a user saved template in thumbnail view results in switch to list view – fixed

In some cases saving user HTML templates didn’t update display without restarting app – fixed

So if you were scratching your head as a result of any of the above issues, download the latest version (and stop scratching!)

As always, if you have an older version of GroupMail and want to upgrade to the latest and greatest, all you have to do is renew the Upgrade Protection on your existing license. This will give you access to download the latest version and any new updates released during the next 12 months.
