We’ve been working really hard over the past several months to improve the design and functionality of our GroupMail product page.

So, without further ado….

How to Integrate ACT! with GroupMail

Many of our customers use ACT! to manage customer or client contacts and get in touch every now and then asking if there is a way to integrate GroupMail and ACT!

If you are a GroupMail Personal Edition customer, you can export your ACT contacts and import them into GroupMail.
If you are a GroupMail Business Edition customer, you can link GroupMail to your ACT database. For more information, read Connecting GroupMail email marketing software to my ACT database

GroupMail customers definitely have their ACT together!

I just found this GroupMail video tutorial on YouTube in Turkish for setting up an account, creating groups and sending an email.

Our company works hard to make group messaging easier for individuals in over 160 countries around the world. But our customers make our job so much easier by working together and sharing knowledge with each other, especially in those languages that we haven’t yet mastered! We really appreciate that!

Customer Service Tips from a Carnegie Deli Waiter

Last year, I introduced my wife and three daughters to lunch at the Carnegie Deli. Anyone who is someone has been there and the walls are plastered with autographed head shots of many famous people. But it was three simple words and a little attitude from our waiter that made our experience remarkable. Although he was spread thinly on the day, he energetically danced from one full table to the next exclaiming one simple phrase in response to all (of the many) requests. A simple phrase that made every person sitting in the restaurant feel as important as any one of those superstars perched upon the walls in the joint.

“Anything for you!”

The real star of the Carnegie Deli doesn’t share a spot alongside the other famous faces on the wall. He is the guy who provides remarkable service that impresses customers more than the wold famous pastrami sandwich and strawberry cheesecake on the menu (bonus tip: 1 order of either will feed your entire family!) And all it takes is three simple words said sincerely.

AOL SMTP (outgoing) Email Settings

I was working with a customer this morning who was having difficulty getting his email to send through the AOL mail server.

Here are the correct SMTP (outgoing) email settings for AOL

- SMTP Email Server Address: smtp.aol.com
- SMTP Authentication: Yes, use your AOL screen name and password
- SMTP (ougoing) Port Number: 587

I believe that the daily send limit for the AOL email server is 500 emails, but you should confirm this with them. If AOL is your email server and they do not support your list size or sending frequency; there are some options. Read SMTP mail server options.

Hey Chico! Your Website is in Spanish and I Don’t Speaka the Spanish!

I get calls from confused [English-speaking] customers from time to time, who think that our products and services were acquired by some Spanish, French or German company. While it is true that our email marketing software, GroupMail, is available to download in English, Spanish, French and German; we have not, in fact, been acquired by a foreign [or domestic] company. But (and that’s a big but!) because our software is available in several languages, our Customer Resources pages are also available in those languages. That’s how we roll.

Generally, the page associated with your native language will be displayed when you visit the Customer Resources Area. This is done automatically by our website detecting the language settings on your browser. As we all know, however, sometimes even the most intuitive computer systems make mistakes. No, really, they do. Thankfully, those same computer systems also make those mistakes easy to resolve. In this case, the fix is just a click of a flag on the web page.

So, if you end up on a page that looks all Greek to you, just look for the flags and click your way out of Athens and into your home language port.

Use GroupMail’s Email Inspector for DNS or SMTP Email Address Verification

So, you have a large list of email addresses that you want to send a message to but you don’t want a large number of bounces to come back due to invalid or obsolete addresses potentially lurking on your list. If only there was a tool that would allow you to check the validity of a large number of email addresses easily.

Guess what? There is!

GroupMail’s Email Inspector Add-on allows you to perform either a DNS (check for email address domain validity) or a full SMTP (specific email address — i.e. user name + domain) check.

How to Move or Copy Email Recipients to Another Group

GroupMail makes it easy to move or copy recipients from one group to another.

Here’s how to do it.

1. Open GroupMail and click on the Groups button

2. Double-click the group you want to move or copy recipients from

3. Select the recipients you would like to move (CTRL + click for multiple select)

4. Click Copy or Move at the bottom of the View and Manage Recipients screen. If you select Copy, then the recipients selected will remain in the source group and a copy of them will be added to another group. If you select Move, then those recipients will actually be removed from the source group and moved to another group.

5. Select the group you would like to move the recipients to and click OK.

That’s all there is to it folks.

Windows Error 0x00002AFB

A few customers approached us with a Windows Error OxOOOO2AFB appearing in GroupMail when they were trying to send a message.

In all instances, this occurred on a Windows 7 computer.

Our support team searched high and low for this error and eventually after checking the settings on a customer’s system, discovered that it was related to an incorrect SMTP server address being used in their GroupMail Account Properties. In all cases, users were using an email address (i.e. me@mydomain.com) as the SMTP mail server address rather than the actual SMTP mail server address for their domain (mail.mydomain.com).
